The typical process that most projects follow:

Accent Architecture may need to take measurements and photographs of the entire building, we will draw the existing conditions (if any), draw the new work to be performed as well as the elevations, we will send them out to you for your approval, usually a revision phase is included which allows you to modify the drawings, if necessary we will represent you at either your variance or review board hearings, we will draw the construction drawings as well as any other additional drawings you have asked for (like interior design, electrical, mechanical etc.), we will fill out the applications for filing the plans, submit them to the building department, the building department will then review the application and issue their comments, Accent Architecture will then make revisions to the provided drawings and applications in response to the building departments comments to obtain your approval.

Once your job is approved, your contractor could pull his permit and begin working.  During the construction, the building department and / or the Architect may need to make site visits to observe and verify the work.  Accent Architecture also offers an optional service, where we visit the site on a weekly or biweekly basis as well.  When the work is complete the building department will conduct a final inspection and issue you a certificate of occupancy or a letter of completion.
